Body-Solid

Body-Solid is an American home and light-commercial strength brand from Illinois. Multi-gyms, benches and cable stations are the usual machines.

Cables and pulleys on a home gym still get a model number. The tower and the bench may have been bought years apart. Do not assume one manual covers both.

Parts to write on the job

• Cable

  Write which run you replaced, and whether the rest of the cable stayed. A visible fray is not the whole cable.

• Upholstery

  Photograph the pad and name the machine. Recovering ‘the blue one’ is how the wrong bench is sent out.

• Pulley

  Note the diameter and whether the bearing is in the pulley. A squeal can be the cable, not the wheel.

• Guide rod

  Record if the rod was cleaned, dressed, or replaced. A stuck stack under load is not cured by telling a member to pull harder.
