A 24-hour floor has to close a machine without a person present

If the only way to make a treadmill safe is to wait for morning staff, the night is unmanaged.

Unstaffed hours need a status members can see, and a way for the first staff in to know what happened. A fault reported at 1 a.m. is real. It should be on the asset before the 6 a.m. opener arrives, not in a voicemail.

Decide which faults may show as out of service automatically in your process, and which wait for a person. Unsafe reports should not wait. If your process cannot change the status at night, the physical sign has to be something a remote colleague can instruct, or you accept the risk in writing. Do not leave it implicit.

The morning after

The opener treats night faults as already real. They do not re-decide from scratch unless they are standing at the machine. A treadmill reported for a hot smell is still out until someone competent attends.

Cameras are not a maintenance record. A still of a member kicking a machine may explain a fault. It does not replace the fault.

Test the night path yourself once: report from the floor, as a member would, and see what the morning person actually receives.
